You can expect a lot of new tools and improvements for the next version 1.8.5 of PixInsight. This includes the new PhotometricColorCalibration tool, with exciting features that we haven’t disclosed yet, MultiscaleLocalNormalization and PhotometricLocalNormalization algorithm implementations, the already announced large scale pixel rejection feature of ImageIntegration, new pixel rejection normalization algorithms, important improvements to DrizzleIntegration, a completely redesigned distortion correction algorithm for StarAlignment, an astrometry-based mosaic construction tool with multi-band blending (seamless mosaics), a new background modeling tool (DynamicBackground, the successor to DBE), and significant improvements to the PixInsight core application, among many new features. Most of these new tools will be available in the initial 1.8.5 release, some of them will be released as updates during the next months. Along with this, PixInsight is growing considerably as a development platform in the C++ and JavaScript languages. We are very excited with this new version, which is probably the most important release of PixInsight to date.
