De Nova heeft nog steeds de status “Unconfirmed” omdat de follow-up observaties met spectroscoop onvoldoende signaal zagen. Malhar Kendurkar (Director, Prince George Astronomical Observatory.Global Supernova Search Team) bevestigde mij vandaag dat de maximum helderheid werd bereikt op 17/18 augustus.
“We discovered this nova on 2018-08-21. We are thinking, this was a very short lived nova. Liverpool Telescope (LT) observed this on 2018-08-21.066 which says source detected – too faint (Spectroscopic I assume). I have my data from 2018-08-16 to 21st. By looking at my data, the peak was somewhere between 2018-08-17th to 18th. When we discovered it was +16.29 and fading rapidly. @Andrea Mantero was using 0.25m using telescope, so I don’t think he was able to capture this nova anyhow on 22th Aug. Observations from LT magnitude > +19, that’s why they are not able to confirm it with spectroscopic observations. I saw your image on Flickr ( where you said, “the Nova was already brightening before 21 august”? The answer is ‘Yes’.
