I am using straight ASCOM connection to the dome. If you don’t want to
use ASCOM, I guess you will have to send the dome specific command in
some way to get the shutter closed.
With ASCOM It’s fairly easy though, and if you are doing the mount
already via ASCOM, then it should be simple to do the dome too.
