Groenewold started the topic H-Alpha from a DSLR (6D) in the forum Astro Pixel Processor Beta 9 years, 4 months ago
I took 12×5 min H-Alpha light-frames 2 days ago, made new darks (as I only saved the master-fits and not original raw files, which was a bad idea as APP uses a different raw processing than dcraw) and made my first flats with my new flatscreen.
At first I didn’t see the H-alpha option in tab 0, maybe that might be made slightly more clear? So…[Read more]

Why would one need to select mode: no registration when you only stack, I even don’t see it in the stack tab, probably a blind spot.

Little bug: The progress bar during registration does not update during the processing .

Ok, let me know if it happens again, and try to replicate the problem.

If you aren’t using masters from RAWs then this is correct Rob. Just load your old masterdark (from PI) as a dark and create masterdark, then APP wil properly make a masterdark of your old masterdark and it will perfrom analysis on it (check fits header by using details selectbox above image viewer). This also applies to your old masterbias and…[Read more]

I think Rob is working with mono channel data, then the Halpha debayer mode is useless @supernov.
Yes, process the channels seperately Rob. Registration can be simply done when you have the stacks ready. Just load the stacks and register them and save registered frames.
Or another way.
Calirbate all you lights first and save your calirbated…[Read more]

Hmm, okay, to use the Ha stack as your reference, you will need to do the star analysis on the Ha-stack, so registration becomes possible. Then selecht the Ha as reference and unselect the Ha stack before starting the registration proces. Let me know if this works 😉
Usually I don’t work in the workflow. I make the stacks per channel. And then…[Read more]

This was when I still used the 1.033.1 version. I’m not sure how to recreate the error.
In the meanwhile I have updated to the 1.033.3 version.

Hi Rob, can you tell me on which version of APP this happened? If it happens again with a certain image, let me have a look at the image 😉
I know of one bug that is on my list, which can cause this, a saturation stretch on 8bit data? Could that be the case?
If you can replicate this problem, that would be most helpfull.
@mth75, registration in…[Read more]

Feature request, allow to process all light and flat files of different filter all in one go, so APP recognises filter keyword in naming or in fits and will create master flats for all channels, calibrate all channels and register stack all channels in the same workflow as you go through the different steps, huge time saver. You can always leave…[Read more]

Haverkamp replied to the topic Question regarding greencast in the forum Astro Pixel Processor Beta 9 years, 4 months ago
Marc, Unlinking like in unlinked stretch is bad practise I think if you want to have good control over your star colours.
In this case your camera simply sees the night sky as green, so this is not a green cast in your data. If you correct the data for LP and calibrate the background, and you still see a green cast in the background, then you…[Read more]

I had those as fits as well, but it’s better to reprocess them using APP. Since mine came from RAW format and I didn’t save that, I had to remake them. You can just select the seperate CCD frames and make new masters. It then, I think, properly recognizes them as masters.

When I progress them separately how do I make sure they are aligned correctly (during the registration phase)?

I think, as I also struggled a little bit with H-alpha, you better process these seperately and choose the mode in tab 0. Standard it says “Airy Disk” there, but there’s options for HAlpha etc.

Display tool tips longer, hard to read them completely, maybe they should go away after you move mouse again …

Say yes to All option, would be nice! (also for saving registered files, which still has a progress bar sitting at 5% and then jumps to the end …)

I’ve loaded all my SII frames and my stacked Ha frame (for registration purposes). I have processed all SII frames up to step 4) REGISTER while having the Ha frame unchecked.
Then I selected the Ha frame in the file list to indicate this is the reference file and pressed start registration. The Ha frame was still unchecked in the file list. This…[Read more]

I have a library of master bias, dark and flats for each filter (L, R, G , B, Ha, OIII and SII) which I alway use.
How should I load these?
I’m currently loading them through the 1) LOAD page and then press in the 2) CALIBRATE phase create calibration masters and then save calibrated frames but I’m wondering if this is the intended procedure?

I have loaded all the Ha, OIII and SII lights together with the 3 Ha, OIII and SII master flats, a master dark and a master bias. Then calibrated, analysed stars, registered all frames, normalized them and then pressed stack but then I end up with a single gray image. Should I process each color separately instead?
