Yesterday I decided to shoot the Elephants Trunk region with the William Optics GT71 and 0.8x Flatner reducer.
Since I had some problems with the star shape in the corners, I turned the Variable reducer 2 rotations inward and the stars immediately looked much better (still some elongated stars though).
So I went for this area of the sky and guided the iOptron CEM25P with my LVI smart guider 2. I used the Garnet star as the guide star, since the LVI smart guider and the 50mm mini guidescope really needs a bright guidestar to work properly. I exposed for 5minutes at ISO400 on my Sony astromodded A6000. In the end I had 33 usable frames (almost 3 hours) of which I stacked 12 of them with Photoshop (APP is still running on 33 of them with the MAD sigma clip function on, which I will post later when it is finished processing).
In the end I resized the frame to about 60% and excluded the Garnet star, which is just left (middle of the frame) of the field of view in the image attached.
In the end I’m quit happy how all things went, and really hoping for some darker and longer nights.
A small remark to make: I thought that the LVI Smartguider wasn’t functioning properly until I found out after 1 hour of fiddling and testing that I forgot to attach the ST4 cable ;-O
Hieronder de versie met Astro Pixel Processor met een totale integratietijd van 8671sec…Ik moet nog een keer goed flats maken, dus die zijn niet meegenomen in de calibratie. Wel meegenomen zijn een 15-tal darks en een BPM van een eerdere calibratie.
De nabewerking van de Stack is uitgevoerd met Photoshop!
De resultaten beginnen inderdaad beter te worden.
Inzake de uitgerekte sterren is het de vraag of dit alleen door de reducer komt, suboptimale guiding/pooluitlijning lijkt mij ook nog iets om nader te onderzoeken. Tevens zou ik nog proberen de reflecties uit de imagetrain weg te werken, beginnende door het filter te verwijderen (kijken of dit de oorzaak is). De heldere sterren zijn uitgebrand, experimenteren met de belichtingstijd kan dus ook handig zijn.
Je kunt in APP een artificial flatmaster aanmaken door onder Tools, Correct Vignetting te selecteren. Zie screenshots. Doorgaans werkt dit uitstekend.
